Emerging out of Jamaica Queens, New York is the new hip-hop duo W.Y.N.D. bringing a refreshing I.C.O.N.I.C. style to the table. W.Y.N.D. consists of two brothers by the name of Supastar Rell (Jorrell Peels, 26) and Ej2WAVY (Elijah Peels, 20). The duo has a special relationship as brothers that reflects in the music that they make. With Supastar Rell being a lyricist and having influences like Rakim, Guru and Mos Def, and Ej2wavy being a saxophonist and producer gravitated towards the music of John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Clifford Brown making their style very unique. Both members of the duo have released music individually and collectively as early as 2011, but have recently chosen to take brotherhood and their partnership to the next level as W.Y.N.D.
In addition, the lyrical mastery with a powerful message and the timeless orchestration of soulful NuJazz productions can not be overstated. These two naturally gifted brothers have teamed up with their cousin, legendary musician and super producer, Herb Middleton to create magnificent art that will last eternally. “Queen M” is often referenced as the First Lady of New Jack Swing. Her vocals famously grace some of the greatest hits from that era: ”Phenomenom” (LL Cool J), “The Kissing Game” (Hi-Five), “Right Hype” (Abstrac’), “Something in Common” (Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown), “One More Night” (Bobby Brown), “Put It on Paper” (Al Green & Ann Nesby), and so on. Marsha was one of a select few vocalists that was frequently called to grace her vocals on tracks made by producer-giants Teddy Riley, Puffy, and Marley Marl, & Fred McFarlane. Her vocals can be heard backing the likes of TLC, Guy, Black Street, Monie Love, Yo-Yo, Heavy D, 112, LL Cool J, James Ingram, Stefanie Mills, and on several Sesame Street songs. Queen M was also the “Groove Me” girl from Guy’s video where she made her appearance sporting her now iconic China doll bob. In addition to being a top vocalist, Marsha is accredited by legendary producer Teddy Riley as “the person who saved his life” and his best friend. Born and raised in South Carolina, Marsha’s gift of song is deeply rooted in her Southern Baptist Church where she learned the art of harmonizing and belting out a soulful tune. As a founding member of THE SHED, she is able to show case her vocal prowess by tapping into just about every style of music.
“HELLE-VELLE” (Velle) is a hometown prodigy who has been wearing many hats in the industry since his teens. Born and raised in the Dirty South, Velle has a digital presence on many social medial platforms and likes producing his own videos to show case his talents.
The rapper, lyricist, producer also has an eye for talent and is a much sought after producer in the Carolinas. Velle’s persona comes to life when he morphs into his pseudo “HELLE-VELLE” who easily decimates tracks with his distinct texture all while delivering southern lingo you can understand.
Velle is one of the many reasons THE SHED is such an anticipated project that is enveloped in raw talent, energy, and creativity encompassing various musical genres. The McClurkin's have it!
D-DUB” (AKA Dre) is a respected emcee and rapper who can be found hosting performances, events, and showcases in the Atlanta area on any given weekend. D-Dub is infamous with a mic in his hand. He is considered one of the best at keeping the audience engaged with his hype interaction and effortless ability to freestyle on the drop of a dime. He has ripped the stage at FreshFest, Spring Bling, Freaknik, and slayed many would-be rappers in battle contests across the country.
Born in South Carolina, this charismatic rapper grew up in the Charlotte, NC area where he listened to greats such as Rakim, LL Cool J, and Ice Cube; however, he acknowledges Tupac and Scarface as having influenced him the most during his formative years.
D-Dub considers himself a vintage rapper that can emanate a visual story with his lyrics gliding on any cadence. As a founding member of THE SHED, D-Dub brings in his blessed gift of story-telling and audience enchantment to this much-anticipated collaboration.
