Lyrics

1979

V1.

Ooo 1979 a little girl came to visit the earth
She was the apple of their eye mommy and daddy’s very first
Things were good for a little while
They read a book said made her smile
Then along came the 80’s daddy left the cypher mommy went crazy

The little girl liked to write and sing
And painting pictures was my favorite thing
Though she wasn’t Miss Maybelline
She knew the dishes gonna be her dream
The little girl wasn’t always good
But her mommy did the best she could
And through the tears in my eyes I’m writing these rhymes for 1979

CH.

And with the tears in my eyes I’m writing these rhymes for.. for

V2.

The projects were so big and I was just a little kid
Though we did not eat that pig
Because of five percent we lived
Roller skating in the lobby
And after school I had to go to latch key
A elevator out of service
We road the ferry when my mommy was working

For chicken wings and a quart of water
Ida Divine is a gutters daughter
When it was cold in the winter
My Triple Fat kept me warm in December
Hey and in the summer time
We had to run to the free lunch line
And through these tears in my eyes
I’m writing these rhymes for 1979 Aye…

CH.

Outro

I wanna thank The Most High for 1979
I wanna thank The Most High for 1979
I wanna thank The Most High for 1979
And through the tears in my eyes
Writing these rhymes for, writing these rhymes for..
